Provident Fund

Provident Fund (PF) is a social security benefit which is extended to employees. The Employers Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 governs and regulates the working of the Provident Fund in India. All organizations having employing twenty or more employees are required to register for Provident Fund.

Employment State Insurance Services

The Employees State Insurance (‘ESI’) is applicable to all factories and other establishments with ten or more employees whose wages does not exceed INR 21,000 per month. Rules and Regulations stipulated in the Employees State Insurance Act 1948 govern the functioning of this fund

Professional Tax

Professional tax (‘PT’) is a tax levied by State Government on all kinds of trade and employment, profession etc. Professional Tax is a dedcuctible amount for purposes of the Income Tax Act 1961. Since professional tax is levied by State Government, it is different for different states. However, maximum amount of professional tax that can be levied is INR 2,500/-.

An employer is responsible to deduct PT from the employees salary and deposit the same with the Government.
Interest and penalties are applicable incase of late payment/ non – payment and late filing of returns.
